Focus and Scope

The  African Journal Of Haematology And Oncology  (Afr J Haematol Oncol) aims at improving the quality of feasible haematology and oncology practice at all levels of health care, as well as improving the general public understanding of cancer and haematological diseases in Africa. To achieve these objectives, the journal publishes original scientific articles; as well as interesting and informative meta-analyses, reviews, opinions, clinical case reports, letters  and news items  dealing with any factor impacting on blood diseases and cancer in Africa and beyond.

These reports include randomized trials, intervention studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, epidemiologic assessments, other observational studies, surveys with high response rates, cost-effectiveness analyses and decision analyses, and studies of screening and diagnostic tests

Peer Review Process

All the manuscripts submitted to the Afr J Haematol Oncol will be peer reviewed. A proportion of such manuscripts may be turned away after an in-house review by one or more editors. Primary reasons for rejection at this stage could be lack of originality, or lack of significant scientific message important to the readership of the journal. Such a decision will normally be reached within one month. The remaining manuscripts will be sent to at least two reviewers or referees. Statistical advice will be sought where appropriate.  We shall aim at reaching a final decision on publication within four months of manuscript submission. Original scientific articles and authoritative reviews shall be published within four months of being finally accepted or after any necessary revisions.

 

Publication Frequency

AfJHO publishes individual items as soon as they are ready.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
